RECYCLED MATERIALS TURNED INTO ETHICAL FASHION

HOW WE WORK

MEET OUR PRODUCTION PROCESS

Step One – Every Makara Wear design idea starts with a pen and paper. Makara Wear’s designer (Gerda) – sketches the designs by hand and colours them with pastels and water-colours.  Making the process enjoyable, creative & filled with unconditional love for the end result.

STEP TWO

SAMPLE TESTING

Then, our original design reaches a small Indonesian family-run factory, where create 2 to 5 samples to find the most comfortable fit, functionality & cut. All the styles are tested by surfers, designers and me – the founder.

We also test abilities of Econyl in different waters like chlorine (poolwater), salty water Ocean water and even boil too see how the cut and material deals with it.

The end result – clothing that not only looks gorgeous, but also can withstand basically anything you throw at it.

STEP THREE

SMALL BATCH PRODUCTION

After creating the perfect one, we proceed to production that comes in very small batches - so we don’t keep big stocks for a reason and we would rather sell a freshly made swimwear, not something seated somewhere for a long time - packed in a plastic bag and absorbing bacterias or smells.

We believe - less is more, and we believe in detailed designs & immaculate craftsmanship.

STEP FOUR

SHIPPING & FULLFILMENT

Some of our surf swimwear is very diffucult to make and takes 1 taylor to make one swimsuit per day. Making the process harder, longer, but more enjoyable once the final result is done.

All your ordered goods will come in Linen Cotton Bag – we don’t put plastic hygiene stickers or labels as we believe it’s just another waste, that will end up in trash. That’s why we like it make it fresh and keep in small batches.
